A SHORT DEFINITION OF FILK

FILK is a type of music largely but not exclusively based on folk in which the lyrics tend to have Science Fiction or fantasy oriented subjects.

FILK cannot be bought in shops but has to be ordered from special mail order businesses (for example Random Factors or Edition Pegasus).

FILK is not an industrial type of music but mainly played and written (and recorded) by dedicated amateurs.

FILK will be performed on some Science Fiction or fantasy gatherings, at SciFi- or special FILK conventions (for example FilKONtario in Canada, Ohio Valley Filk Fest in the USA, Dixseption in Britain, FilkCONtinental in Germany etc.).
